New campaign encourages Flinders Shire residents to shop local this Christmas time

Flinders Shire Council and Hughenden Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to launch a new Christmas campaign to encourage people to do their shopping in the Shire.

The Shop Local This Christmas campaign includes a $1,000 draw prize voucher, which can be spent at any Chamber of Commerce Member business.

People may enter the competition by spending more than $20 in one transaction at any business in the Flinders Shire.

The prize winners will be drawn at random on 3 December as part of the Community Christmas Party from the collection of receipts.

To enter, customers will need to write their name, phone number on the receipt, with receipts deposited into designated boxes provided.

Flinders Shire Council Mayor Jane McNamara said the Council was delighted to partner with the local Chamber of Commerce on the campaign.

“I think this is a fantastic joint initiative between Council and the Chamber to help improve the local economy,” said Cr McNamara.

"There are some amazing businesses around our Shire which have jumped on board with this campaign, and I’d like to thank the Chamber for their involvement.

“By spending locally, residents not only get to put back into our wonderful community, but also have the chance to win a surprise early Christmas present.”

Hughenden Chamber of Commerce Pete Fornasier said the Chamber is 100 per cent behind locals supporting each other.

“This initiative reinforces our continued commitment to the growth of local businesses,” he said.

Entrants must be permanent residents of Queensland and reside in the Flinders Shire to be eligible to enter.

Multiple entries are permitted by customers during the duration of the promotion, with one entry per receipt.
