Midweek delivery of fresh produce to resume in Weipa

The highly-anticipated midweek delivery of fresh produce into Weipa will resume next week after Sea Swift renewed its partnership with Far North Queensland road transport company Tuxworth & Woods Carriers.

Sea Swift, now in its fifth year of managing the delivery of fresh produce to Weipa’s Woolworths store, has once again contracted Tuxworth & Woods Carriers to deliver the goods by road every Wednesday during the dry season.

Sea Swift Chief Executive Officer Dr Rochelle Macdonald said Sea Swift has increased deliveries to twice during the wet season and now a third weekly delivery into Weipa during the dry season.

“We’re delighted to once again partner with Tuxworth & Woods Carriers to provide a midweek delivery of fresh produce for Weipa residents,” she said.

“When Sea Swift initially secured the Woolworths contract, we introduced a second delivery of fresh produce (Mondays and Fridays), and since 2017 we have introduced a third (midweek) delivery, helping to reinforce Woolies as the ‘fresh food people’.

“We’re always looking for ways to improve our services and invest in the regions we service.

“And we consider the regular delivery of fresh produce as an essential element to living a healthy life in remote communities.

“I’m sure local Weipa residents will once again welcome the opportunity to do a midweek shop at Woolies, where they will find fresh produce on the shelves.”
